Chasing Contentment

The poem below was written by a young boy. I came across it a while ago and thought it was very interesting how a kid would write this. Nice reminder to enjoy the moment, right now, instead of always living in hoping for tomorrow.

Chasing Contentment

It was spring but it was summer I wanted; the warm days and the great outdoors.
It was summer but it was fall I wanted; the colorful leaves and the cool dry air.
It was fall but it was winter I wanted; the beautiful snow and the joy of the holiday season.
It was now winter but it was Spring I wanted; the warmth and the blossoming nature.
I was a child but it was adulthood I wanted; the freedom and the respect.
I was twenty but it was thirty I wanted; to be mature and sophisticated.
I was middle-ages but it was twenty I wanted; the youth and the free spirit.
I was retired but it was middle- age that I wanted; the presence of mind without limitations.
My life was over but I never got what I wanted.

  1. I love this!

I read it a while ago but decided to comment today :)

I just wanted to thank you for what you share, it really helps (And is encouraging)!

Like now, reading over what you wrote to the group a while ago (2008 i believe) really helps right now!:

"This is what powers me right now:
No matter what happens and what has happened to me it was for my good as I trust Him. How?!
If you don't understand why somethings have occured in your life, you actually might not for now but time will come when you see the wise and loving point of it all (of whatever happened or happens). But for now live by faith in the moment that you have and if you need help pray to God to strenghten your faith; and WATCH.

"God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God..." Romans 8:28"

    Just awesome. :)
